Spring Clean 101: Get your Office into Tip-Top Shape

Let's admit it: we're all incredibly busy—attending back-to-back meetings, preparing presentations, executing projects, writing reports, and so on. not to forget a long list of other things to do As a result, it's easy to overlook your desk space.

It's natural to feel stressed when paperwork pile up and office drawers become messy. When you can't find the papers you need, undertakings get more difficult. It's also difficult to concentrate when there's hardly enough area on your desk for your computer.

Work is already taxing enough. So there's no reason to make things even more difficult by having a fully disorganized office. When it relates to spring cleaning, almost all of our friends focus on their wardrobes and other domestic areas, but they overlook their workspace—the one location where they spend the majority of their time.

With spring in full swing, we thought it would be a good time to share some of our recommendations for spring-cleaning an office setting.

Recycle for a life cycle :

Organize the strewn-across piles of paper. It's something we all have... That one colossal stack of papers that seems to grow every week. It's undoubtedly a combination of important notes and reports, as well as six-week-old ” to address and other presentations that should have never been printed from the first instance. The moment has arrived to face the mountain. All of the pages you don't need should be recycled or shredded. Then, sort the remaining papers into a few distinct categories (projects or work-in-progress) and file them safely in a convenient location.

Have a filing system in place :

Create a file system that you'll use consistently. This may appear to be a daunting undertaking, but it can be completed in as little as 20 minutes (or less!). It'll also create a massive difference in the long run. Start the file folders and labeling out of the closet and get to business. Be truthful to yourself... Keep your system basic if keeping track of a million separate folders seems hard. Folders should be labeled widely so that they can serve as catchalls for documents that would otherwise pile up on your desktop.

Have a clutter free work space :

Remove all non-essential items from your workspace. In all honesty, things in front of your desk should only be kept there if you utilize them on a regular (or even weekly) routine. Stationery, a notepad, a desk calendar, and a computer are examples of these items. Anything else can be thrown out, put away in a drawer, or tucked away. If you follow this thumb rule, you'll find it much easier to keep your workspace clutter-free in the future.

Have small snacks in handy :

Organize the top drawer of your desk. From munchies and take-out meals to office equipment and letterheads, a topmost desk drawer may rapidly become a jumble of everything. Purge the rubbish once again to make way for the goods you need daily.

Always clean up after yourself :

Give your area a thorough cleaning. Last but not least, don't forget to clean up after yourself. If you consume meals at your work regularly, disinfecting and wiping off your workspace is a smart idea. Also, keep your keyboard and computer screen clean.

The most important thing to remember regarding workplace organization is that it should not be done every year. Urge people to maintain their workspaces organized and neat, and to spend a little time each day before leaving the office for the evening arranging their desks and files. Regularly, incorporate additional larger-scale cleanup time into everyone's agenda.
